DarbyTech started with a simple idea in an unexpected place, a barn in Alberta, Canada, back in 2003. It was here that Roy Barker, a former engineering lecturer, turned his passion for education and innovation into something bigger. With a deep belief in hands-on learning, Roy began developing industrial training equipment that would bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.
What started as a small operation quickly gained momentum, with Roy’s dedication driving new inventions and advancements in the field of engineering education. But as the years passed, Roy was ready to step back. With Roy and his wife Jan offering their wisdom and experience, Gary and the JBA team breathed new life into DarbyTech, expanding its product line and pushing the boundaries of technical training solutions. From that humble barn, DarbyTech has grown into a global leader in industrial training equipment, with products now used on all seven continents. Supported by a network of dedicated agents and the world-class engineering expertise of JBA, DarbyTech operates from The Wilton Centre in Redcar, UK—one of Europe’s largest R&D facilities. Though much has changed, the heart of DarbyTech remains the same: a commitment to innovation, education, and empowering the next generation of engineers. |
