Hands-On Skills
Hands-on skills are essential for engineering students as they bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. Using real valves, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) allows students to gain a deeper understanding of industrial processes, safety protocols, and equipment functionality. This practical experience builds confidence, enhances problem-solving abilities, and prepares students for real-world challenges in engineering environments. Our Trainer: The DarbyTech Skills Trainer platform measures an impressive 13’ x 26’ x 12’ Multi-Level skid that includes tanks, electric motors, pumps, filters, strainers, exchangers, gauges, valves in 10 variations, steam traps, piping, flanges, gaskets, blinds, and orifice plates. Stair access to the deck level increases the square footage of the plant-like learning environment to 450 square feet. Equipment Specification Highlights:
Process Highlights: The system is designed to circulate water throughout the various equipment in a closed loop using hand-controlled valves to maintain normal tank levels. The Operator Skills Trainer will utilise different types of valves and piping, including see through plastic piping to allow students to verify flows throughout system. The shell and tube heat exchangers are transparent to provide a visual representation of how heat exchangers work. |
