What is Distillation?
Distillation and fractionation operations are found throughout the petroleum, petrochemical, and numerous other industries. The separation of liquid mixtures and recovery of the components typically involves the distillation process.

Our Trainer:
DarbyTech's Multi-Level Distillation Operator Skills Trainer has been redesigned to fully integrate within the overall HPOST style training skid and will have a dedicated control panel and a separate large-screen display to show the process operation. The completed training system will bring the opportunity for hands-on skills training, as well as providing learning associated with distillation and fractionation. 

Equipment Specification and Process Highlights:

• Glass distillation column with nine bubble-cap trays - 6” (15mm) ID
• Glass reflux accumulator - 4” (100mm) ID
• All other process equipment is made of stainless steel
• Re-boiler with optional electric or steam heat - 30kW capacity
• Three heat exchangers, brazed SS plate type
• Three centrifugal pumps
• Stainless steel feed storage tank and two glass product receivers
• Emerson Delta V DCS process control system
• Working fluids methanol and water
• Continuous variable flow
• Liquids are recycled to the feed tank for continuous operation
• Liquid sample and temperature at each tray
• Maximum process temperature: 100 °C (212 °F)
• Process pressure: Atmospheric
• Complete unit mounted within a modular steel skid, assembled in 3 sections (10ft / 20ft with a mezzanine level with staircase.
  
• The distillation column will be 12.5ft and will sit between levels for access.
